The largest city in Canada, Toronto is the capital of Ontario and a big modern landscape that is a real hive of activity. Toronto’s population is almost 50% from outside of Canada, giving the place a truly cosmopolitan feel with a vibrant melting pot of cultures and flavors.
Not only does Toronto have a real mix of residents, there are also loads of things to see and do. Here’s a rundown of a few of the highlights that you should be looking out for when you visit this fantastic city in Ontario.
By far Toronto’s most magnificent landmark, the CN Tower rises to more than 550 metres into the sky! At the top of this major tourist attraction is the 360 Restaurant that actually revolves, offering fantastic views of the city. There’s even a glass floor near the top to test out your nerve to see if you can handle the height. One of the world’s most recognisable towers, and pretty hard to miss when in the city of Toronto.
The largest theme park in the whole country, Canada’s Wonderland has over 200 attractions, and one of the world’s largest selections of rollercoasters, including the BEHEMOTH! There’s also a 20-acre water park, the Drop Tower, and an interactive dinosaur park. A real fun day out for all the family.
Ontario Science Centre
First opened back in 1969, the Ontario Science Centre has since welcomed over 40 million visitors, including nearly a quarter of a million students each year. There are a great selection of amazing exhibits and exhibitions including The Living Earth, Communication and the Human Body. There’s also a super cool 3D cinema, and an area specifically designed those that are eight and under to learn as they play.
This majestic castle in the centre of Toronto was built in 1911 by Sir Henry Pellatt as a way to fulfill a childhood fantasy. With its 5 acres of beautiful gardens, breathtaking towers and 800ft tunnel, it’s easy to see why Casa Loma is one of the cities main tourist attractions.
As you can see, there really is a wide variety of things to do whilst in Toronto, a cosmopolitan city that is fast becoming the centre for Canadian tourism.
